STRIDES HITS THE RUNWAY
O'Briens Aveda Institute Students celebrate October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a Runway show in tribute to American Cancer Society's (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Our 2nd annual event is on Wednesday October 17th at Club Venue in Colchester. Tickets are $15 at the show. The doors open at 7:00 PM and the performance will begin at 8:00 PM. For any questions call our Front Desk at 802.658.9591 x1.
Artists around the world are using their talents to create awareness, entertainment and hope in support of Breast Cancer Awareness More Birthdays, Less Cancer campaign. Cosmetology, Barbering and Spa Therapy students from O'Briens Aveda Institute create a night of fun, fashion and fundraising through the art of hair and makeup. All proceeds from ticket sales, raffle money and donations will be given to the American Cancer Society.
Supporting Strides is a team effort and we are very thankful for the generosity that has come from our community. In the past prizes were donated by Care Electrolysis, Sophie's American Bistro, Fuller Landscaping, Euro Food Market, Ashley Furniture, Saunders Jewelers, Girlington Garage, Rocky's Pizza, New York Pizza Oven, The Purple Cake Shoppe…and more! The efforts of many raised $2,100 at our first event in 2011.
Wigs for Kids: FREE Haircuts
All collected hair will be donated to Wigs For Kids, a private non-profit organization that turns hair donations into custom hair replacements that look just as a child's natural hair would, at no cost to children in need.

CATWALK FOR WATER 2011
During the month of April 2011, Aveda's Earth Month Campaign held events worldwide to raise
$4 millon for protection of clean water, a basic human right that nearly 900
million people globally are left fighting for daily. Inspired by Aveda's
participation in New York Fashion Week, O'Briens Aveda Institute created an eco-fashion show to raise funds and awareness in support of this goal.
Students designed head to toe elemental (fire, water, earth & wind) looks using environmentally friendly and repurposed materials. Beauty looks were created using Aveda's
plant derived hair care, skin care and make up products. In 2011 we raised $1,000 for our local Lake Champlain Committee.
