Cosmetology This course of study is a full 1500 clock hour cosmetology course. We follow guidelines set forth by the Vermont State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. We use both the Aveda curriculum and the Milady Standard Cosmetology curriculum, which include chapters on the history of cosmetology, life skills, your professional image, communicating for success, infection control, anatomy and physiology, chemistry and electricity, properties of the hair/scalp, principles of hair design, shampooing/rinsing/conditioning, haircutting, hairstyling, braiding, wigs, chemical texture services, haircoloring, histology of the skin, hair removal, facials/facial makeup, nail structure/growth, manicuring and pedicuring, advanced nail techniques, salon business, seeking employment, and on the job. We also offer a series of Career Development classes and schedule guest speakers. Our cosmetology course covers units in both practical and theory application. We offer much more than a basic education to earn a professional license. We will also provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the beauty industry. As a graduate of our Aveda Institute, you will leave with the skills you need to become a top stylist. You could become a fashion photo stylist, platform artist, behind the scenes hair show stylist, celebrity makeup artist, Aveda Global Educator, retail sales specialist, hair colorist, salon manager, and many other exciting positions.
