The Aveda Institute was founded to create the most successful entrepreneurs in hair, skin, makeup, massage and total body wellness. Our students are educated by accomplished professionals, using innovative curriculums that blend industry standard techniques with business-building and retail skills. The Aveda institute emphasizes personal well-being, as well as, environmental responsibility. Using Aveda pure flower plant essences and plant-based products,  we affirm the relationship between personal beauty, wellness and the environment.

The salon industry is about abundance. If you're interested in fashion, you can work on photo shoots, runway shows, movies and more. If you prefer a salon environment, the industry is exploding. The average full-time salon salary across the US is $50,000 per year. The price of a hair cut in an Aveda salon is twice the industry standard. That means you can earn well over the national average. The career paths are vast and varied and our staff will help you get started.

O'Briens Aveda Institute begins cosmetology classes in January, March, May, July, September and October. Barbering and Spa Therapy will start in May and September. Class size is limited to enable us to give each student personal attention.

*You must take an Admissions Entrance Exam as part of the admissions process, which can be done during your tour.

Items needed at time of interview:

Please bring with you a copy of the following

• Proof of high school diploma or GED administered by the State of Vermont. (In mitigating circumstances, we will accept another form of verification that you have completed either one).
• Proof of a Measles Mumps & Rubella (MMR) vaccine
• Copy of your driver's license or ID
• Copy of social security card

To complete enrollment you will:

• Take the Admissions Entrance Exam
• You will need a grade of 75 or higher to pass or have an approved Rationale of Acceptance Report 
• Have read the O’Briens Aveda Institute Catalogue and acknowledge that you understand its information and assume responsibility for following the rules and regulations set forth by the Vermont State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, the Vermont Board of Health, and O'Briens Aveda Institute
• Have reliable transportation for all class sessions, prior to your start date
• Contact O’Briens Aveda Institute’s Financial Aid Officer  to confirm you have filled out all necessary paperwork
